your opinion after the first semester
There are three things I like about this university and the program I am in:
1. you can re-do exams
2. you can often re-do assignments and papers
3. you get a high degree of freedom in deciding what you research in papers/assignments
But there is one thing in particular that irritates me alot:
they don't explain how to use the software properly, so you get bad marks not because you don't understand the material but because you don't know how to program the software. Many of the models we use are specialized for our respective fields and so practical illustrations on how to model them can be very hard to find on the internet, and if the teacher thinks we know it already or just don't care anymore it's a big problem.
A related source of irritation is their computers: Microsoft Word crashes too often when I use their computers, the computers sometimes get very slow, and they don't seem to fix hardware problems with keyboards or mouses.
I also don't think their choice of books is very efficient, they seem to pick the most expensive ones when there are cheaper and equally effective alternatives.
